About the project
Wander around the museum, get lost in an artwork.
Wander off, wander along, wander back.
Just enjoy getting lost!
Families receive a specially designed bag containing six different wandercards. Each card leads them to an artwork somewhere in the museum. Together, you wander through the museum and find the artworks. Found the artwork? Let's wander through it in a different way…
Sometimes they use their senses. Sometimes they imagine. And sometimes they play.
The concept was designed for Museum de Fundatie as a playful way for families to experience the museum together. The aim is to spark curiosity and wonder, while giving families the freedom to decide where they go, what they explore and how they experience the art.
The Wandertour takes families through the entire museum, from the permanent collection to the changing exhibitions. It is physical, surprising and designed to be something families discover together.
About the familytour
Wander round the museum. The Wandertour has a fixed format, but its content keeps changing.
Three wandercards are connected to the permanent collection, while three new cards are created for every new temporary exhibition. This means that families can return to the museum and wander through new artworks with the Wandertour.
The six cards are scattered across a specially designed wander map. But this isn't a map in the traditional sense. The artworks appear across the map, inviting families to wander rather than follow a fixed route.
Once they find an artwork, they take out the matching card and discover its unique wander activity. Families might use a searchlight to discover hidden details, change the setting of a painting, or simply let their eyes wander across an artwork.
There is no fixed route and no right way to wander. Families have the freedom to choose their own path, making the experience work for their needs and for repeat visits.
So, let's wander!
