About the project
How do you explain the meaning of migration to children? And what is it actually? For this route we dived into what that means ‘migration’. And how we might all be somehow related to that term.
Museum Fenix is a museum about migration, and the museum is full of artworks about this theme: migration. So, instead of explaing the word, we let families discover the artworks, and let the artists explain it for them. This fragile theme is experienced different by every artist. The stories might touch you, might inspire you, might change your view, but most of all: let’s you connect with them.
The artists invite you to there stories, and with these familytours we help families to step into there world. And invite families to share there stories and view.
About the family trail: The Family of Migrants
The Family of Migrants is a photography exhibition about people from all over the world. People saying goodbye, travelling, feeling at home, missing someone, starting somewhere new or finding their way.
Families receive nine cards, each connected to a different theme or emotion. Eight cards are designed to be played in the exhibition, while one card is made to take home.
The family chooses a card and then finds a photograph that they feel matches the theme. The activities on the back of the card invite them to look closely, step into the situation, imagine, share and make the photograph personal.
There is no fixed order and families don't have to play every card. They decide where their curiosity takes them and how much they want to explore.
About the family trail: All Directions
All Directions is an exhibition full of stories by artists from all over the world. Stories about leaving your country, finding a new home, not understanding a language and discovering what home means to you.
Families receive eight art cards, each leading them to a different artwork in the exhibition. The cards use colour, shape and visual details as a starting point for discovering the artworks.
Once they find an artwork, families explore it through a playful assignment. They look closely, discover the story behind the work and connect what they see to their own thoughts and experiences.
Again, there is no fixed route. Families choose which artworks they want to find, in which order and how many they want to explore.
